Airframe and Powerplant Technicians, often called A&P’s, keep airplanes in safe flying condition.They are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and work for airlines, aircraft manufacturers, general aviation, aerospace companies, and the U.S. government.

A&P’s are trained to service, repair and overhaul aircraft components and systems including the airframe, piston engines, turbine engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, propellers, rigging, control surfaces, instrumentation, warning systems, and environmental systems.

A graduate from Westwood College of Aviation Technology’s or Westwood Aviation Institute’s A&P program is qualified for an entry-level A&P position in the aviation industry.

A&P’s are well paid, have opportunities for advancement and the opportunity to work almost anywhere in the United States. Graduates can specialize or generalize and work with industry relevant technical equipment and systems. Experienced A&P’s with advanced ratings and administrative ability are selected for supervisory and executive positions. Others often become designated FAA inspectors.
