The Respiratory Therapist applies scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. The Respiratory Therapist is qualified to assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care treatments, including the supervision of Respiratory Therapy Technicians. Under the supervision of a physician, the Respiratory Therapist may be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgment in the care of respiratory patients.
At Apollo College, the knowledge and skills needed by respiratory therapists are taught through formal lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The program is designed to train entry level respiratory therapists who meet nationally accepted standards for practitioners in the field.
